Get to Know the Holes

Only three of Maramarua’s eighteen hole markers made it into this photo set, but between them they span the card from the 4th to the 18th, and each one doubles as a local sponsor board. The 10th, Long Fellow, is the more unusual of the three — it’s listed as a par 4 from the blue tee and a par 5 from the yellow, one of the few holes in the series where the par itself changes with the tee colour, not just the distance.

Local Character

Two small finds worth a mention: the bunkers get raked in full view of the clubhouse’s own noticeboard, and out by the road the club makes its pitch to passing traffic with a roadside billboard of its own.

Club History

The clubhouse end of the course carries its own welcome sign, and from Ken’s own visit, the golf bag that gave his blog post below its title.
