The course at Island Park Golf Club is an up and down affair. 9 holes that offer many challenges. With tree-lined fairways, nice bunkering, and a view of Kaikorai Estuary it is a very pleasant place to play.
It takes only 10 minutes from downtown Dunedin to visit this little parkland beauty that claims to be the premier 9 holer in Dunedin.
The first is an awesome way to start – short, steep downhill, and wide. The last is your opposite, a long uphill challenge and a very tricky way to finish. Get your punches in early when stroke hole 1 is your last.
The course is well maintained, the greens are somewhat better than most at the nine-hole level.
8th is a good hole, semi driveable, short par 4 this many hillocks and humps to negotiate, local knowledge on where to land is required. The nice wee green is protected by a bunker.
Island Park Golf Club has a course that is in better condition than most and has the variety across the nine holes to make a play for the best in New Zealand List.
