In 1907 the first New Zealand Open was hosted right here at Napier Golf Club. The club affectionately known as the Waiohiki Links is the oldest Golf Club in Hawke’s Bay, starting life in 1896.
The course is a must-do when in the area, they have a tee system which is growing in popularity, with no reference to “Ladies” and “Mens” tees. It is colour coded based on handicap.
The course is a traditional course that was completed in 1903, and only 4 years later hosted the Open, it is a tree-lined parkland layout, split by a road. It traditionally sits in the top NZ courses list, due to its well-maintained nature and the history that oozes from the fairways.
