Royal Wellington Golf Club

Bob Charles as an amateur won the NZ Open at Royal Wellington, in the 50’s. Kudos enough? The club dates back to 1895 and is one of the premier private golf clubs on the land of New Zealand. The club developed the land here, by the Hutt river, in 1908, following its first few years on the Miramar peninsular.

It has two courses, The Heretaunga course is of championship quality and there is a 9-hole challenge, the Terrace Course. There has been remodelling over the years, even a redesign by Bob Charles in the 1970s. The latest improvements saw the current course reopen in 2014, with the leftover holes forming the 9-holer.

Royal Wellington Golf Club is a special place, it is consistently lorded as one of New Zealand’s best. It is in a pristine parkland setting with exacting standards.
