Located in Ohakune in the Central Plateau is Waimarino Golf Club. 18 holes of golf near Mt Ruapehu, a mature course in a beautiful mountain setting.
The club was established in 1926 when it was written that cattle and horses must be removed from the course on competition days. There is superb information on the history of golf in these parts on the club website.
An all year round course with free draining soil. Waimarino is a good option even in the dead of winter when the ski fields are unplayable.
